About Abstract Machine

I'm Mathew & I edit Machineries of Joy, a fanzine for weird roleplaying games. I like surreal games with a narrativist bent but will play most sorts of games – freeform games, story-games, old school science-fantasy, traditional games that encourage creative input from those playing. My background is in journalism, bookselling and new-wave science fiction but it’s fan material that I consider best of all possible art forms. I love its wildness, sincerity and freedom.
